I am wanting to dress up my blog for a long time now and since I started experimenting I have not finished it. Well, why do I have to sweat to beautify my blog when I can use one of the many awesome designs of Build-a-Blog created by PixelGeek Designs over at ScrapOrchard. I was really so excited to learn that as Honey Bee, I can use those blog themes, wow! All I need is to have that time to install it. Since my blog is already complicated and many changes have been made here, I would not risk making a disaster of what already is. So to learn the little trick of installing the Build-a-Blog, I created a new blog to sample it.

I use the Build-a-Blog: Smooches Blank.... and it's perfect!!! I'm really loving it. There are 4 designs made from Smooches kit and I want it all especially I want the header to have photos in it. I CT for ScrapOrchard. Didn't I said that before? Perhaps I forgot to tell you about it. This is one of those exciting moments in my digital world. That is, being part of the Orchard's Honey Bees. And working with talented Designers. It's so yummy being there, promise! They don't put a CT Call, they will contact you if they want you in their team, pretty cool! Not sure if that will change, oh they have this recently CT challenge/competition and those that won became guest CT, I think for a month. You see, I love ScrapOrchard, from the start. And getting an invitation from Mel took my breath away, literally. Imagine, a store asking you if you want to join their team? And it's not just a store, it's ScrapOrchard!!! That's my first time being asked by a store (and the only one :P), I really feel good about it, feels like I am something, lol. I've been asked by designers many times to join their team, one after another, it's still the same feeling, really good!!! For them to notice my work is a big boost to myself and my scrapbooking. Overwhelming.

I'm not sure how many CT are we at ScrapOrchard, I never do the math, not even do the counting, let me estimate, around 26. Okay, you got me, I peek at the forum and count, we are 26. You see, when you are that large of a group, you'll never run out of fun, and what's good about that is, most of them is who you are working with in another team. You almost knew everyone, either because like I said you work with them in another team and the other is, you've been probably in their gallery many times to 'ahhh' and 'oohhh' and get inspiration and new techniques. Everyone is nice, warm and friendly. And they are very committed to ScrapOrchard. One thing that is keeping me behind is, I'm not a chatter. I hardly throw out bits and pieces of my mind when they start to mingle, making them know each one better. I am usually late responding, I guess it's the timezone fault. It's either I'm too early for them or I'm fast asleep when they're just starting up the day. This is true to all my team. I hardly keep up with conversations, whatever it is in the forum. I have no enough time to visit each forum everyday while I'm at the office working, especially in times like this that I am really really busy working.

Of course I wouldn't miss mentioning here the wonderful and talented designers at ScrapOrchard. There's Pineapple Plantation Designs, PixelGeek Designs, Ziggle Designs, Amanda Heimann Designs, B~Creative Designs, Cuppycake Digital Designs, Designs by Sine, Elegant WordArt by Bethany, Irene Alexeeva, Matahati Designs, sherrieJD, Annick Philibert, Ashalee Wall, k@trine's blinkie service, Krystal Hartley, Lauraskathi, Polka Dot Plum and more coming in. Okay, I know I've neglected my blog. So much. I admit I'm not a good blogger. I am. And what makes it worst is having no time to do it. At all! It is hard for me to keep this blog updated even if I have so much time in my hands, so what it will be if I have none?!?

November and December 2008 have been very busy months for me (and a little late October) at work. I have loads of tasks to do, and deadlines. And sometimes, having no real schedule makes things more difficult to get things done. It's like everyday's a deadline, need to hurry up or I'll get busted. 2009 didn't start on me easy. I am still busy! Imagine that?!! What once used to be a very light day at work for me became so like this, so busy. I have no time to do some extra-curricular activities. Yes! I can't whip a LO or two anymore. I hardly meet my requirements for my CT teams. I owe my designers so much, so much for 2 months now. I thought January 2009 will be different, but I am afraid it will not be. Still, hoping.

And now, while I'm preparing to go home and call it a day, I thought about my blog, and make a new year blog resolutions. And these are what I will do:

1. I will show each month what kits my designers have assigned to me or I chose to work with.

2. I will show each LOs I make for those kits. And tell a short story about the picture I use.

3. I will share more of what's happening to me in real world and some of the things around me.

There it goes!!! A little goes a long long way. I'll leave it with 3 items. I don't want to get too ambitious and end up fulfilling nothing. I will try my best to keep it.

A New Revelation and a FREEBIE!!!

I think I'm ready now to reveal it to you guys. I jumped in to the designers circle. Oh yes, you read it right. I made another leap, and I am designing now. Yay! Another new thing for me. I carry the name ISKRAP Designs by Ruby.

Toott!!!.... Featured CTM @ TDS

've been holding this announcement for a week or two since the interview have been realized. It took 2 weeks I guess for Alice Koh and I to settle a date and sit down to do the interview. It was his DH who interviewed me. I am surprised to receive the invitation from TDS, the featured CTM is a new column at The Daily Scrapper, I think I'm the 3rd and to be included in the first few is really an honor and makes me proud.

The interview went great. At first I was so nervous that if you listen in the recorded conversation you'll hear my voice is cracking up. lol. Soon enough I felt comfortable and we've been laughing through. The time flies so fast that I thought it just have begun but we have reached the end. I wanted to say no, let's talk more, lol

I wanted to thank TDS for featuring me in their 7th issue, to Alice Koh who noticed my LOs and researched on me, invited me to do the interview and wrote about it, and lastly to her husband Claus-Dieter who interviewed me. I would call this one of my achievements in being a Creative Team Member, and a scrapper.

LO: Siena College

I know I'm not done with designing the blog, I'm a little busy at work right now, hopefully I can have more time next week but I guess that's wishful thinking 'coz my project is starting just before that week ends. OMG!

Since I received messages that they tag me, I need to play along so I'll look on that side a little later or maybe tomorrow, knowing me, argh

Okay, now, I really want to share this LO I made last week, Carey from Duchess Designs have put up a blog challenge to create some back to school LO. I have not seen it right away and was really cramming to get a LO for it. I'm not sure if I really made it though but here I have one...

I used Secret Garden Kit by Duchess Designs, available at DigitalCandy.com

I'm really in a hurry making this LO 'coz time is running out. I can't find Princess photos from her first day so I opted to use this photo from one of her school parade activities that's why she look all messed up in the picture, sweats are real obvious and hair gone crazy.

She's in Grade 2 then, we have to move to a new place that's why she also have to transfer to another school which is near us. Leaving her old school where she stayed for 4 long years (she started nursery until Grade 1 at Ginger Grace Academe) made her real sad and we actually have a hard time getting her up in the morning to prepare for school. Thanks God now that she's in Grade 3 and been used to her new school, mornings have changed too, it's more smooth and easy.

I have a new fave designer!!! And I'm looking forward to getting my hands in one of her gorgeous kits. She's Kasia Sikorska (kasia designs) @ SPD. I participated at SPD's challenges, one of which is a scraplift of any of kasia's LOs at her gallery in MSA. Browsing at her gallery, I was like "WOW!!!", a jaw dropping moment. She have amazing LOs! I became a fan in an instant, thinking I want to be like her, I mean, I want to be talented and skilled like her.

Later that day (this was Friday), I was chatting with Chris and I showed her kasia's gallery, I wasn't able to contain myself. I also showed her amandaresende's gallery, she's also a very talented lady which I have known earlier. Then I wonder if kasia is a designer, having a split second realization that I somehow remembered seeing a kasia designs at SPD store. So I went over at SPD shop and look for a certain kasia designs and voila, there she is, and I am again at my knees praising her works. I totally go gaga with her kits! And decided to complete the challenges at SPD to earn those points which I can redeem to get coupons to the store. And guess what, I'm done! LOL

I lifted two of her LOs, one of which is what I'm about to show you that I entered in the challenge. In this LO, I have lifted kasia's Shine LO

I hope I have given enough justice to the LO, and that I wasn't that far behind in terms of awesomeness, lol... I use a collaboration kit from Edeline Designs and Jana McCarthy - Vintage Summery - availalble at TDC store. Here's a preview of the kit

How am I right now, being a CT? I think I have not updated you about that part since I started doing CT, many have happened and I wasn't able to tell you about it. Starting with me being with Tanyia's CT as my first, many designers have followed, I even get into some stores to CT for all their designers. Right now I am fully loaded with 10 CT works and I still have one more coming as her CT call is not yet through. 2 of which have contacted me and offered me spot on their teams. 1 of the stores I got in for winning in the contest. 1 I contacted myself and volunteered for and got surprised to hear she'd been thinking of asking me too and made me her CT Lead. I also have a Guest CT spot for 1 designer this August. So I guess from that little info you know that I am busy making LOs for them. Each of the team I am are different from another, some are very easy going and laid back, some needs more time from you and some are strict. I'm not sure I am giving each enough of what I should, that I feel guilty too. But I tried my best to for as much as I could.

Beside doing CTs, I also an active member of CLD community, I am a Memory Making Motivator and I'm hosting 3 challenges there too. I love what I'm doing, and I am enjoying it. I just hope that I will be able to balance everything, the digi world and the real world.

Contestants will be provided with a different free kit to use for each round of the competition. The kits will be provided on the first day of each round and the contestants will have 5 days to complete their layout. The GDS Designers are looking for creativity, uniqueness and the layouts that best showcase the kits!

Been there scrapped that... I do probably but I'm not talking about it. Oh yeah, I am talking about Been There Scrapped That... BTST... a new community and another place I hang around to play challenges. I think I have joined a number of forums now but only a few I hang with most of the time. BTST is one place I would love to be, I find it beautiful and with nice ladies. It just started, a very new community but it is becoming a hit with now 775 registered user, only a month time from its grand opening last April 7. Is that up for the record? The forum is refreshing, it's a relief to see only a few threads, I am saved from the cluttered and jam packed forums others have. For now, It only holds 5 challenges, ABC Challenge, Snap It Challenge, Say It With Music Challenge, Jumpstart Challenge and Quick Page Exchange. BTST also offer a Monthly Collaboration Kit for all the members who will complete all the challenges except for the QP Exchange. But no sad faces when one couldn't complete it all 'coz for each challenge that you made, a part of the kit is given. So completing all the challenges sums up all the parts of the Collab kit. Now, the Quick Page Exchange prize is all the QPs entered in the challenge will be given to all who participated. Sounds great to me! Instant album. I've been going ga-ga downloading freebies on the Internet for digital scrapping ornaments (papers, embellishments, alphas, wordarts, templates and even quick pages) and looking for the best of the many giveaways I could get. But of course the best and the better ones are all for sale. I've seen lots of amazing kits that my jaws totally drop to the ground (exagge ...lol). Seeing those kits makes me sad somehow because I just can't have them, and it is quite a luxury to buy all these stuff and to splurge money just like that on them. Of course, browsing on these kits will make me move on to another and that leaves me forgetting about it. And I don't want to. So I decided, each time I saw some kit I totally would like to have one, I'll add it up to my wishlist and post it here on my blog. This will remind me for one that once I have come upon these beautiful kits, two: I have shared it with you, and three, I have helped the designer in advertising her kit - for free! (Maybe one day, they'll know about this wishlist I make and give me one of the many kits in there... hehe.)

Well, just before the Bossings arrive this week, I was able to create LOs for the challenges hosted at CLD. I made not only 3 so I could qualify to receive the April Collaboration Kit - April Shower but 5 LOs. All in 1 day! It really shows that I'm at a marathon here... lol.

There were some changes at CLD lately. They've been restructuring the challenges. Not until this April, all challenges been hosted monthly. April Collaboration Kit @ CLD

Here's to a new challenge for the month of April. Oh no, where do the days gone by? Almost in the mid of the month and I haven't made a single layout... how could this be? Well, for the 1st week I've been busy making the signature book for Gian's 1st birthday (take a look if you haven't seen it.) And for this week, unexpectedly, there's a bunch of new terminals that arrived and I have to records all of it and put on tags. Thanks goodness I'm almost done. But that was just the start of it, I have to conduct inventory (those on stock room and those in use by the dev team) and believe me it's not easy. How I wish that could be done in a snap so I could start with scrapping again, lol... Wishful thinking! For I know very well, and you VFI guys that next week comes the dreadful days - having the Big Boss visits our office. Scary! And just now, seeing my place reminds me to do some really serious cleaning. Sigh! Is there really a time left for me to do scrapping? Huh, knowing me, I can squeeze some time to slip into making layouts. Wait and see, for I won't pass on this month's Collaboration Kit at CLD. This one's fabulous. Huge kit. Pink. Blue. Perfect. Gian's 1st Birthday

Finally, I got over Gian's 1st Birthday. It's a tremendous outrage of energy as I prepare for it and even more on that day itself. For more than a week, I gone busy making Gian's signature book. It covers Gian's first 12 months. Literally, I render overtime just to make sure it will be done. In scrapping world, what I did is called Hybrid project - a combination of paper scrapping and digital scrapping. I am satisfied with the end result. Happy and proud when others find it beautiful. Great! Some want the same for their child. Fascinating.

Monica of MGL Scraps is having a CT Call, runs until March 15. She gave a free 'mini kit' titled Somewhere Else to be used primarily in the LO entered for the competition. It's March, and that means I'm up to a new start of challenges. I got hold of the February Collaboration Kit from CLD and it's really a huge collection of papers and elements, so beautiful. And now here's another huge collaboration kit from the designers at CLD. Won't you like to have this too? Layout of the Week

This one is just so unexpected, it never came into my mind that I will be picked for LOTW this soon. It was just one of my wish as a digi scrapper to be featured in LOTW. And it happened! Some surprise for me at CLD. My 'Princessly Smile' LO was chosen to be the #26th LOTW. This LO is simple and really not intended to be posted at CLD in the first place. Some story behind this LO later after I show you what this award winning (LOL) LO is... (Drum roll please...)

Okay now, this is how this LO get lost at CLD. As I was scavenging the blogging world with freebies, I came to Andrea's blog and find a beautiful template. It is a double-sided template or a 2pager. She is giving away the first page free and the second page as a prize if you join the template challenge at Go Digital Scrap Booking. So I hurriedly check out the forum and join in. That one I kept as secret from you but not for too long huh. Hehe. So as I said, I joined another community of digi scrappers because I want to get that 2nd page. I think I'm falling in love with a 2pager layout. O-ooh!

Isn't it awesome? Back with the challenge, I checked the thread for the template challenge to see how it is being played at GDS and so it's stated in red that the LO must use primarily GDS products (kits, elements, etc.). I got a little worried here. Good thing I have some kits from Doreen Stolz that I bought from another store and that she is selling at GDS too! Yes! I don't need to buy a kit over (not cheating... lol). So I started decorating the template using Doreen Stolz's Girl Thing Kit and that above how it turned out. Now, making sure I followed the rule and will receive the prize, I checked on the store for the items that Doreen Stolz is selling and last page came - NO Girl Thing in the list! Well, good thing Versatility Kit is in store and I also have that kit bought the same time at the other store. So I made another LO using Doreen Stolz's Versatility Kit and this is what I posted in GDS gallery. With the same title - Princessly Smile.

And now you guess what's next. I could not put to waste the first attempt in decorating the template, it is so precious having my DD in it. And I want to show it off to all and decided to upload it at my CLD gallery. It never came to my mind that it will turned out to be CLD's 26th LOTW.

Now, I have another news coming, as much as I want to reveal it now I can't and I must not. I have to wait 'till it officially get out and released. Maybe tomorrow. So be sure to come back again.

ALL ABOUT ME CHALLENGE

In this challenge, we have to add to our LO the definition of a romantic word, still with relationship to V-Day. And here's mine... Adore.

ARTS CHALLENGE

Inspired by an art challenge. I'm not so sure how this one works as it differs from the art challenge at CLD. Though both have used an art in a way to inspire. At CLD, they also provide a sample kit that can be use for the LO. At N4D, I see that a color swatch is given instead. If I to make it I will think that I have to create an LO in that color fashion. But looking at the gallery where others had made an LO for this challenge, I saw that they more of made it the way the art is. And so that is also what I do... =D Here's my LO Straight Forward.

SKETCH CHALLENGE

Fiona found some awesome sketches from Pencilines.com, one square and one rectangle sketches. I chose the square one and made an LO out of it titled Sweet and Sassy.

QUOTE CHALLENGE

Now you almost know what would be the theme of this challenge... LOL. Well, to do an LO based around a Love Quote. So here's the LO with quote titled Love is Like...

The quote says:

PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE

And yes, it's the month of Love, so for this challenge, we have to take a photo of something RED and put it in our LO. And the first picture I came about at my files is Princess with Jollibee.

FONT CHALLENGE

In this challenge, we were given a font to use in the LO. And the font for this month is - Loverboy. :) I used that font for the word LOVE in my LO. Here it is titled the Greatest Love of All.

MEMBER HOST CHALLENGE

All comes to love and romance and it is because of Valentine. And for this challenge, we have to come up with an LO of our favorite romantic movie. It needs to have a picture of the movie and a journaling too. And I have two movies in mind, one English and one Korean with almost the same title... A Walk to Remember and A Moment to Remember.

IMPROMPTU CHALLENGE

This challenge could be done by any of the member challenging other members to do an LO. And for this month, we are challenge to scraplift the February Newsletter Featured Scrapper. Here is Beate's LO - Blue Sky.

And mine is Boracay Paradise.

SWAP CHALLENGE

Let me just quote the words of Nightwolf at N4D, "This month we'll be swapping Recipes. Our theme is Valentine's Recipe (something your other half would love on Valentine's Day)." And she gave a sampler to use in the LO. But I have a new snatched beautiful Kit and I couldn't help using it at once, so I made a 2 recipe for this challenge. Grilled Shrimp and Chicken Pasta and Chocolate Graham Nut. The first LO is my first try on a 2 pager.

And that made me qualified for a prize. Yehey!

...and then I decided to take some rest from doing LOs for the N4D challenges. I just found out 2 days ago that for me to receive the mini kit as prize for playing along I have to complete all the challenges for the month. Oh-oh! They got 12 challenges over there, yah that much. At first I told you that I made 3 LOs already, so I am way behind thinking we only have a week left before February is over. But I don't feel pressured about this, why should I right when I am enjoying every minute I do LOs. And that's what I am just doing, going around ga-ga with forums and challenges... enjoying! And I really enjoy staying at N4D, the ladies over there are so nice and warm. They're real sweet. Anyway, back to LOs and challenges, I made around 6 yesterday, which bring me back to the race and left with 3 more to go. Sure that's quite fast of me... lol. I'll just made another post to show you those LOs when I'm done with the rest and uploaded it at N4D gallery.

As I was saying at the start, I'll give it (doing LOs for N4D challenges) a break today. And browsing for freebies I was lead to Heather's blog from IkeaGoddess' blog. IkeaGoddess have a collection of freebies from the Internet and Heather's template got me. Heather is a designer and known as Momma's Miracle Design. She have quite a bunch of beautiful kits you'll really love.

1000th Member

Don't you think I have what it takes to succeed in the world of digital scrapping? Would you advise me to pursue lessons to enhance the skills and then make a career out of it? Just kidding... I just got this elation from being lucky joining forums. I told you that I joined N4D community right, and there for the second time, I won AUS $50 for being the 1000th member. I'm happy I have a lot of kits to buy with that. I'm turning into one shop addict. I'll give you previews of the kits I purchased at N4D store when I'm done shopping.

To My Daughter

This LO's been posted both at CLD and N4D. The photo is a picture of Princess when she turned 1 year old. Celebrating her birthday party at McDonalds St. Francis Square branch on December 07, 2000. The journal is a poem by Susan Polis Schutz and says:

Yah right, I am NUTS! Haha... Imagine, I just joined another community of digi scrappers yesterday. Nuts4Digi. Woahh! I just can't get enough you say. I don't know but I just did. And it seems I've been hooked with playing challenges. It gives me idea in creating LO. Some sort of motivations. And since at CLD I made 3 LO for the Collaboration Challenge, I also made 3 LO at N4D - Brag Book, Color and Scrap Lift Challenges.

At N4D, Brag Book Challenges does not give you free templates to decorate but given a theme or requirements, you have to create at least 4 LOs for this. And since it is the month of February, there's no wonder the theme has something to do with Valentines and that is LOVE. Plus the pages should have a heart.

Color and Scrap Lift Challenges at N4D are played so much the same way as that with CLD. No need for me to explain again.

So now to showcase my LOs....

BRAG BOOK CHALLENGE

As explained above the requirements for this challenge is at least 4 LOs about LOVE and in each page a heart must be placed. And here's mine titled What LOVE is...

I got a very awesome find. This is one gorgeous kit ever. Actually, it was through my friend Mye that shows where I could get "Wild Sorbet". She is an avid reader of Aggie. Knowing that I am into digi scrapping and I will surely love the kit, she showed me Aggie's blog. And from there I was led to Memory Makers Magazine where the kit is offered for FREE. The designer's name - Michelle Coleman - ring-a-bell right away as I remembered her beautiful Christmas kit titled "Frosted", which I was able to grab free as well.

Digital Scrapping

Lately, all I've been doing is digital scrapping. I recently joined a forum of scrappers and I have been playing along with the challenges they have posted in the community. Random Challenges. Template Challenges. Brag Book Challenges. Color Challenges. Artist Challenges. There's just a lot to do! And it is overwhelming to receive nice comments from the members of the group. Be it true or out of camaraderie. Still, I am thankful that they bother to give me one. And I feel that they mean it as I myself feels good about the layouts I made. It also encourages me to create layouts more than so before. And being in the community of mostly experts and designers, I am putting myself at will to learn Photoshop. I don't think I could last in such place with copy and paste, resize and arrange items.

The community I'm in right now is Color Line Design or CLD for short. I got this blinkie icon from there...

and I'll be putting that on my Mom and Kids blog's sidebar. (Actually, it is already there... hehe :P)

Aside from showcasing my layouts to the group and to you my friend, I get to receive some freebies for completing a challenge or more. Like for this month of February, if you complete 3 of the challenges, you get the Collaboration Kit. This is a kit put together by the designers at CLD. Look at the preview...

...that is what I'm vying for at the end of this month. This challenge is called Collaboration Challenge and it is new. Started just this month! So there's more gorgeous kits to come.

Just last week, or a week before that, when I joined CLD, a Random Challenge called Valentine's Challenge had been opened by Angel Jet (Henriëtte). There's no strict rule here just create a layout that is in traditional valentine color. The winning layout will be chosen by her two daughters at the end of the month (January) and will receive a $10 coupon to be spend at CLD store. I hurriedly created a layout for the challenge. I'm just excited to play along. In this layout "Valentines for our Princess", I created a poem for Princess which spells the word Valentine - for each letter in it the line starts with. This is my first layout posted at the CLD gallery and the first of many challenges I will play in the future.

Here's the poem:

Valentines are for our Princess,

Always bring us true happiness.

Love that is oh so true,

Ever growing and that is due.

No matter what you do and say,

This love in our hearts will always stay.

In this moment of eternal bliss,

Now and forever we'll give you a kiss,

Even if you say "Stop it please!"

And today, I am happy and proud to say that this layout is a winning piece. I am so delighted, I can't contained my joy while reading the PM I received from Angel Jet. And seeing the "congratulations!" I get at the thread. Wow! Isn't it? My first LO. Winner! Is this for real? I'm just a newbie with no special skills and no secret tricks in the pocket. What? OA?! Am I putting so much drama here? Like I won an award at some prestigious award giving bodies. LOL. I am exaggerating, okay. But nevertheless, I am truly happy for winning. It feels good. Beginner's luck.

There is also this monthly template challenge there. But the January Template Challenge have to wait and come after I learned how it should be played. I have to make it right away because it's nearly the end of January then. This template challenge coincide with the Color Challenge where a color swatch is given for each month and you have to use one or more of these colors in your LO. So for January challenge + color challenge = "Gian".

As I was trying to look for Kellie Puddy's blog (so I can redirect you guys to her place to give credit for using her template on my last post - SMILES Made by GIAN) , Mr. Google (as my friend Ody calls Google search engine) displayed her name with Color Line Design and no luck with finding her blog. I gave CLD (Color Line Design) a look and found myself registering and joining the community of scrappers. Well, looking around I notice she have a link to her blog on the signature. At last!
